The Premier Direct account is the best current account on the market - 5% when you're in credit and an interest free overdraft for the first 12 months after opening. They have a switching service so it is easy to transfer all your direct debits and standing orders and your account is easy to check and administer online. Although it's an online account you can still make transactions over the counter. You can set up or cancel direct debits etc online if you want to or by telephone. You also have the option of a 10% interest savings account (deposit a set amount each month and leave for a year) when you open a Premier Direct account. One drawback - if you need an official statement for any purpose it will cost you 5 quid for each month you want a statement for. On the whole, worth switching your bank account to the Alliance & Leicester.
